Hey Tim, This is Jim, The guy that bought your last project. Your new car is looking sweeet!!   I cant wait to get mine out this spring ! I will hate to get sand on it though it is so clean. Anyway thought I would let you know I checked out your new car. Very Nice, just like your last one.

It all depends on what YOU want. I have duel beam motorcycle headlights on mine(off my old buggy). They are big, but great for night riding on the streets.    I thought mine were too big on my old buggy, but liked them after I had them on it awhile.

I wouldn't decide on the lights until you get the body done.  They might look better then.

FOR SANDTOY 6 I HOOKED UP WITH DAN AT HECKER MACHINE IN OR. I JUST ORDERED MY COMPUTER AND HARNESS FROM HIM USES A STOCK ECM AND THEY MODIFY THE HARNESS AND ECM TO DELETE THE PASS LOCK AND AUTO TRANS FUNCTION. THE NICE THING IS U DONT HAVE TO RUN RACE FUEL OR OTHER MODS NEEDED. SHOULD BE AROUND 280 HP HE TOLD ME. HE SAID IN FUTURE I COULD GO TO TURBO SOME DAY AND THIS WOULD STILL WORK FOR ME BY JUST ADDING RACE FUEL AND MODIFY THE MAP SENSOR (ADD CHECK VALVE).

is your block aluminum? I've got a 3800 to use but have been thinking possibly the honda or ectec motors.280 hp sounds pretty good, are you using an091 trans?

sandtoys6 yes the honda motor 3.0-3.2-3.5 are a all alumium block and head engines. with dual cam varible valve timming (VVTI) THESE ENGINES ARE NONE AS THE (J) SERIES.  YES USING A BUS BOX THIS IS THE ONLY THING I NOT TOTALY HAPPY WITH BUT THE MENDI'S DONT COME CHEAP.

3800 are great motors.. i dont think anyone in there right mind would agrue about that.. only done side is for this app .. there heavy!..the honda and ecotec motors are much lighter and make more power.. i was going to run a 3800 my self .. but after alot of research i found the ecotec to be in my oppion the best route... the turbo motor makes 270hp stock and with a tune in a buggy 300 to 400 is very easy to make with out changing a thing.. i dont know the exacty weight of the top of my head of the turbo motor .. i remeber the none turbo is 248lbs so add a few for the turbo ...the honda motors are great too.. make good power and are lite.. i just have to many connections for parts and tuning of GM stuff so it was the only way to go for me.

one of the reasons I went with Garths bigger chasis was to run the 3800,these motors are cheap to get, but the lighter motor and with more hp is sounding better.

here is what ive learned...... POWER is EASY!!!!.... trans is NOT SO EASY!!       OR  POWER IS CHEAP!!... TRANS NOT!!! so CHEAP!!

altho alot of the reading i do is about the big dunes like glamis.. and im thinkin were so much smaller that the trans in are lil sand boxs might be able to take the hp alil better..but maybe not just a theory  lol

it cost me 5 times more to build the tranny  than the motor, hope we get to put your theory to the test this summer
