so this is kinda the same as the other one but if there is gonna be about 6 or 7 people coming up to the dunes and we would like to come up for a week, can i wait to get a campsite within about 5 or 10 miles. i know there is a few to choose from and now im looking at just what i can get when the time comes. i wouldn't care what the campsite location would be or anything i am just wondering if i can wait to reserve a week at a campground. we would b coming up in june or july and not around a holiday. any help would be great. thanks everyone

June and July are the busiest months.  When I first started going to the dunes I tried this a few times before I got tired of driving around with no luck.  I ended up at John Gurney  in the overflow a few times.  I would be sure to make a reservation for sure if you are planning a week stay.

At the time I knew someone with a cabin in pentwater and ended up there.  We ended up in Ludington a couple times too.

well right now we wont have any money. how much earlier should we try to reserve it because we might be able to reserve a couple like a month before we go because basically we are all waiting on graduation to be able to go and then after graduation we will be ready to go.

tell them you want to reserve it with your credit card, but want to pay cash. then they will reserve your space, but not charge you untill you show up. Thats what we do with hotel rooms.

Yeah, each place has a different policy, but like he said, you'll go, lol.

the real question now is which campsites can i come up to and rent a site if i am under 18. Having trouble finding one that will rent to me. All of them say you have to be 21. The way things are looking I am going to be sleeping along the road somewhere

Well just called the state park and it looks like we will be staying there. You only have to be 17 to get a site and its only $27/night so you can't beat it. And you split that between 7 people and its only gonna cost me about $60 for the week. Hopefully will be there July 12-18
