Hello everyone. I've finally convinced a group of friends to go the sand dunes this year. None of us have ever been there before. Our main reason for going is to ride atv's on the dunes. Can anyone please help me with suggestions on places to stay? Basically we want a cottage or cabin style place, not a hotel or camp ground. We want to be as close to the off road entrance as possible. I'm assuming there's no places close enough that you don't have to trailer in is there? Our other concern is that we'd rather be in a "party spot" more than a "family area" if there are separate areas like that. Please help me with some suggestions on lodging and anything else for someone coming up for the first time. Thanks

Not sure of a good cabin spot for you.   Someone else can help you on that.  You will have to trailer them to the parking lot.  If its your first time i would recommend not going on a holiday weekend, Its busy and alot harder to get a trailer spot in the parking lot.  I am sure you and your buds will have a great time.  Also welcome to the forum

Thanks for the holiday tip, I was thinking about that. Always trailering I guess it doesn't have to be as close as possible but still close would be nice.

there is a place called michago estates and some people in there rent out their house or cottage. price might be higher than you want. some are right on lake michigan. its about 15 min. south of the dunes. might be too far but i figured i would let ya know.

my best advise would be to stay in town. the quads are secure no one will mess with them. plus you can walk to eat and do what everit is that you do at night. i have stayed out of town before. it is a hassel to have to draag your quads everywhere you go just so that you can keep an eye on them. if you are campin my suggestion is yogi bear. there are a ton of shower that are always clean for the most part. they have a heated pool. the best part is that everyone that stays there usually goes to the dunes. so if you have a break down need tools or parts, or need advice or help someone is bound to know the answer. A dood hotel is silver sands resort. the prices are the best that you are going to find in town. it has a pool and a resturant attached with a good breakfast buffet. its benifits are the same as yogi convienance and helpful people.
