Today I happened to stop by the honda dealership and was curious about what they had for used 250f's. The guy said they had nothing used but since the 2010 models are about to come out he could check a price on a brand new 08 they have sitting around. He comes back and tells me about $5500. Now im thinking about trading in my 05 kfx400 and paying the extra for the bike. I bet I could talk him down to about $5000 or so easily. I just wondering what you all think about it, a good idea, bad idea, what?

when your talking bikes Kawasaki all the way If its kawi all the way then why do you have a yamahaha symbol in your sig? haha. Id take a kx250f tho but I just ran into a deal on a BRAND NEW bike. and id rather buy a new bike rather than a used one.

I said in my post "when your talking bikes kawasaki all the way" lol i have yet to find a cool kawi sig. i love yami atvs and kawi bikes, dont ask why lol i just have always been that way. but in all seriousness, in 08 hondas were rated best all around stock bike so that would be a good way to go, just get paddles if you plan on seeing the dunes and for the love of god don't let off the throttle and up the drive sprocket 1 tooth if clearance allows, looking forward to seeing another bike out there

If you plan on duning it the 250 really has to work up there unless you weigh like 110 lbs. The boss's son went twice with his crf250 this year and had to replace valves both times. He rides extremely hard tho. On trails or any dirt surface you will absolutely love the 250f tho. They are just a little under powered for the dunes. If i got a bike again it would be hard for me to get anything other than a honda. That is just me being a brand snob, but all of the brands lately are top notch. it takes alot of experiance on a bike to be able to tell the difference between the brands. It sounds like a good deal, and i think you are right in believing you can beat them up on the price a little. I've heard rumors of companies halting production for a year because there are so many new non-current bikes left in the showrooms. There will be alot of rebates offered to dealerships around the beginning of the year on those non-current models too so you might be able to get down into the 4k mark somewhere if you wait a couple months and keep putting a bug in the salesman's ear.

If you buy a bike at least get a 450. I bought a 06 cr125 and i wish i would have bought a cr250r or acrf450. The 250f wont be good on the dunes, you will wish you would have got a 450f of any of the brands.

I WOULDN'T. On the other hand it is all about what you prefer. I like two strokes. I ride CR250's and love it. They have plenty of power for the dunes.... ON the other hand if you buy a 250 FOUR STROKE it's like riding a 125. They are way underpowered. I bought a RMZ250 Race bike with about 10,000 worth of stuff done to it and I still would have killed that thing on my CR250... Hope this helps. If your going to go with a FOUR stroke at least go with a 450

Well you know how carried away one's budget can get on a motor. Suspension can easily cost $1000-3000 depending on how radical you go and thats just in the shock and forks. There are billet triple clamps and linkages. Its just like quads man. We had damn near 10gs into my 125 back in the MX days.
