great hill climb msba, im so sorry you cant stop the hill climb for the people that cant stay to watch and wait till they can come back to watch the rest, maybe with a little help from others we could set up speakers in the parking lot or maybe one of the sighs like the state have to tell everyone on the dunes what is going on,where did we lose this hole hill climb as fun and make it about what is faster vw or buggys or trucks its only for a dam to gather dust,as time moves on so do what we race so wo cares what won, with all the mouths running like there eating a t bone maybe they should come out to help or shut the hell up about how long it takes, there was problems with the buggy that grades the hill but it is a buggy msba donated to dnr and dont get to work on it like it should be done so to the ones that live around there maybe they could work on it to help out or are we just moving our lips.ones that complain about the hill not smooth sorry we cant cater to you but maybe,we did the best we could with what we had and the help that was there, i didnt see any of the ones setting in the lot offer to help and some that are bitchen whernt even there to watch, meybe if tony and my self didnt hold up waiting for the camera to get down it would have moved along faster and everone would be happy, wait what am i thinking some a hole would still bitch they didnt get to see any pictures who knows, GREAT JOB MSBA ,and i hope we can carry on the hill climb for many years, i dont remember, i know msba is 40 even if i didnt get a t shirt( omars tent factory didnt have time to make me one) but howmany years have there been a hill climb, i can remember 35 for sure, after all this many years we should be able to do it better AGAIN GREAT JOB MSBA and im out of room but im sure ill post again, just cant help myself

I think my comment was more of a woo hooo for the truck guys than a slam on the rest of the field, at any rate I hope the trucks keep the trophy for years to come I was not there but heard from plenty about the slow moving show. That is not the fault of the crowd or anyone who was at the dunes. You have watched the hill climb for 35 years so I'm sure there have been some great running programs. I think all Sand Fab is saying is that there should have been more fore thought and organization by a club that has been doing this event for so long. From what I understand the crowd was huge. This being said if you want them to come back you have to keep them interested. The day of the event is not the time to fix the equipment and round up help to put on a race.

Before this gets drug out for pages & pages......It's OVER. There will be a hillclimb May 2010...IF the hill isn't back to the bathrooms or farther by then.....MSBA will be putting it on.... No the hillclimb isn't for sale, trade, or anything else..........Why can't we EVER get the recognition that YOU HONESTLY know we deserve? Be a part of it, or be on the outside looking for things to complain about.......... CONGRATULATIONS TO Mike Page King Of the HILL! THANK YOU to all the TRUCK GUYS FOR AN OUTSTANDING SHOW ONCE AGAIN!

I had a lot of fun at the hillclimb. In the spring, I would be more than happy to help set up speakers and prep the hill area, I just need to preplan the time a little. I'm not part of the "club" but am willing to help. Problems at an event like that suck, especially ones that stop the show. I pulled up to the hill and had tranny problems....oops. Next time I'll test the tranny before I show up, shouldn't happen again. Hopefully, we'll show up with a good group of guys and put on a show. That's what it's all about. The yellow jeep will be ready to fly in the spring. It's never easy to pull off an event of that size, but with enough help it should be an easier task for those involved. I'll bring my group with me to help in the spring. Hats off to Mike Page for winning King of the Hill, Mary for winning Queen, and Mosher for beating me (again). I'm starting to think that I'm only good for video....winning doesn't seem to be in the cards.

Benny it's not your place to help set up,take down or run the hill climb. They take your money when you enter. It is not up to sand fab to make sure things run smoothly. The club needs to say hey we can do better, and then actually do it. again my post was not anti anything it was just pro truck! get it pro truck I have run a couple events in the past and kinda know how things go but primo if you want to teach me some management skills have at it!

Ideas to make things run smoothly:
Run the speaker signal wirelessly to the t-shirt tent and have some of the loudspeakers set up over there. I'm not sure on the price of equipment as I've never personally tried such a thing. I do know, however, that it is possible and not too bad to set up. You can use the electricity from the DNR bathroom if they will allow it, or run a second generator at the t-shirt stand.
There should be a pre-determined staging lane. Some of the problem with the speed of the hillclimb is waiting for the cars to get to the hill. When E class cars are running, E class cars should be in line, and D class cars should be called to staging.
The breakdowns are unavoidable and unexpected as you know, but the improved speakers would have helped a lot with that. Naturally I could hear everything because I wasn't only close to the speakers, but I was also close to the main tent. If everyone knew that it was a safety issue with the grader car, much few people would have complained about it.
I've said it before, but the timing lights need to be set up higher. They need to be set up high enough that cars cannot jump them and start timing on the back tires. The Sierra Sands car jumped the lights on at least one run that I saw, and gained approximately .8 seconds doing it. (3.7 seconds to 2.9 seconds.) I think it would be a simple matter to raise the lights, as you have lots of room on the steel posts they are mounted to. There's no reason that I know of to have them that low to the ground.
I agree with some points that both sides have made, but I also think that both sides are going too far. Yes, the MSBA does a good job with the hillclimb based on what resources they have, but yes they can also do better. If nobody puts on the show, there will be no show to watch; and if nobody complains, you will not know what needs to be/can be improved upon. There can be a middle ground, you just need to be able to see things objectively.
Am I missing anything? Mary, Kyle, Paulie, Rich, anyone else I may have missed, I am asking you specifically.

I'm with you Rich, just saying I can help if needed. It should be up to the club to make it run smoothly. If passes were run every 2-3 minutes instead of 10 minutes, it would make the show much more viewer friendly. I was part of the delay this year, shouldn't happen again. A couple tranny issues (my fault) caused me too pull to the line and have to be pushed back. All those sort of problems take time. I'm willing to help if needed, because the tech-in is on sat. and we don't run until sun., basically I have the time (too far to drive home). As far as the grader buggy goes, preventative maintanance will hopefully help for next year. The trucks that show are definitely the show (the last couple years) even though they haven't caught up to Mary yet (besides Rich). The attaction to the trucks seems to be the unpredicatability, you never know whats going to happen on the next pass. I love the great reception from the SLF crowd, it's been a lot of fun. I'll continue to run the hill for as long as I can. As far as the truck versus buggy thing goes........ I'm 2200 lbs. Mary....900? Mary is very hard to beat up the hill. I'll be very proud if I can match her time. We'll see in the spring. I think I'm getting this hill crap figured out, just have to keep the jeep on the ground. Again, great job to the winners.

I agree with the timing system being raised on the poles. I jumped the top lights on my first pass, and the timing never stopped. Seems to be a good idea for the spring run

AND FINNALY THANKS TO THOSE INVOLVED WITH THIS VIDEO FOOTAGE WHAT A GREAT THING TO DO FOR THE HILL CLIMB AND THE SPORT IN GENERAL.
Thank you, Pauilie and I took all of the footage on that video and I edited it all together. I had my little point-and-shoot camera, and Paulie had the in-car setup. Neat little toy I should add. Cannon has a new camera out that I'm going to try to get before the spring hillclimb, and it takes HD video! (720p widescreen) So, I'm hoping that the spring run will be in HD! Oh and Primo, easy on the caps lock.
