The trucks that show are definitely the show (the last couple years) even though they haven't caught up to Mary yet (besides Rich). The attraction to the trucks seems to be the unpredicatability, you never know whats going to happen on the next pass. I love the great reception from the SLF crowd, it's been a lot of fun. I'll continue to run the hill for as long as I can.
As far as the truck versus buggy thing goes........ I'm 2200 lbs. Mary....900? Mary is very hard to beat up the hill. I'll be very proud if I can match her time. We'll see in the spring. I think I'm getting this hill crap figured out, just have to keep the jeep on the ground. Again, great job to the winners.
People like to watch whatever brings the most excitement. They don't care if it's a truck, buggy, quad, or watermelon as long as it keeps them entertained. All of the fast cars are exciting, no matter whet they are. Anyone remember the V6 buggy that ran 1.4 seconds? Here, I'll let you cheat and watch the video. http://videos.streetfire.net/video/Past-and-preasent-King-of_70510.htmHow about the truck that ran damn near as fast? I'll let you cheat again. http://videos.streetfire.net/video/Recordholding-drag-truck_70513.htmPeople were on their feet for both runs because they were exciting as hell!!! Nobody cares that one was a truck and one was a buggy.

so the hill climb is a week old and all in the books, cant we get some of the people with ideas to meet and come up with great ideas to help, everones help is great, rich you were a member if for one day or a year or you didn't run the hill so it is kinda your job to help, this is a club and not a money making bussines like a track that is there ever weekend, this whole hill climb takes all year to plan with a few people and a lot of hard work and any one can be a member with a buggy or truck or what ever you choice to have fun with( and I'm not talking with your little friend) and I'm sure everone would welcome all the help possible,so with this said maybe the spring hill climb can be one of the greatest ever, we never know how long its going to last, the hill keeps moving east and we cant stop it, ill bet theres some old cars out there that can still kick ass where are they.

Pyro, That was Randy with the buggy he use to run at the track until he flipped it at the top of the hill and waded up the frame witch was a total loss.
Nice seeing the video again tho.
Also bad company, Mary's rail should be more like 700 lbs. My old car that I ran on the dunes every weekend, full travel (13in.) and ran the hill was 980lbs with no driver, had over 500 hp and 405 ft lbs. tor. at the rear wheels. Weight kills when trying to get it up the hill as you said.
Now sence everyone that was bitchen about the climb is going to help in the spring, sounds like we will be having a greatttt spring hill climb.

i just cant let it go, yes it is on state land so spectator cant be charged to watch, not a big deal but as far as big money maker you are vary wrong, no one is paid for there time and it does take many many hours and the cost of insurance is out of the world for one day event, and yes you are vary right this forum is one of the biggest reasons there where so many people there this year, as many years Ive been going up for it this was maybe the largest crowd that i can remember that aren't running the hill but i do remember when there where more then 100 cars, all of which were buggy's of some sortand the hill didn't get graded much at all and everthing went good, may the trophy's should have been put over to appletree then 4 more people could set there and maybe we can park my motor home and everone Else's trucks down town with no parking lot parking the day of hill climb and we could put more people in the lot to watch for a great hill climb at no charge, i can think of a dozen buggers that would piss off but who cares, it just goes to show the more people are informed the more people bitch and I'm by far one of the biggest bitchers but this whole think gets old, maybe the one that pull off the hill climb stop to let others come forward to do it but that would just give people more to bitch about, it just never stops, oh by the way your so proud to be a sponsor here we could sure use the help here and its not all about the money, and yes rich is a very talented guy to pull his deal off and i give him great credit for that but he didn't do it with 5 or 6 people and there where some stumbles along the way but enough is enough put it to bed and lets start for spring and pull it off to be another great show, some day someone will learn i dint know when to stop

I just read this whole thread and I have some questions.... I have never been to a hill climb before and would like to run my buggy, Is there a entry fee and is it possible for anyone to enter? Also if I'm not mistaken did someone say that the spring hill climb will be the last? If the hill is getting closer to the parking lot and everyone is worried that there won't be a hill climb because of it, why not just move the parking lot back further and expand the lot at the other end... I'm sure the DNR makes enough money from us that they can afford to make the changes necessary.

It costs $50 $20 for the one-year MSBA membership, or $10 for a one-day membership, and $30 to run the hill. Also if I'm not mistaken did someone say that the spring hill climb will be the last?
They're not sure. They're going to run it as long as the DNR and the hill will allow I'm sure. Why not just move the parking lot back further and expand the lot at the other end?
Because the DNR will not change anything... Even if it's in their best interest. Must be a lot of red tape or something.
